Hail bruising on aging asphalt shingles
Why it happens here
Most Centennial roofs are 20 to 40 years old, and the shingle mat gets brittle with age. When hail hits, it bruises the mat and knocks off granules, leaving a soft spot that leaks. The damage is often invisible from the ground.
Our approach
We walk the roof and test each slope with a moisture meter. We photograph every bruise and document the granule loss. If the damage is widespread, we recommend replacement; if it is isolated, we repair the affected shingles.
